Dr. Oleksandr (Sasha) Kondrashov
Recently I have been encouraged at the CASWE-ACFTS Social Policy and Advocacy Committee meeting to find some Canadian podcasts that can be useful for social policy and advocacy work. Thank you, Dr Victoria F. Burns, PhD @betesandbites, for starting the list with The Evidence podcast. Please check some other podcasts that are produced in Canada. If you know of additional Canadian podcasts, please keep me updated, and I will add them to the list.
The Evidence
Hosted by Lee Arbon, Amanda Deseure and Victoria Lewis, this new series dives into the leading research and current trends surrounding substance use and addiction in Canada. We investigate and review the evidence on alcohol, cannabis, opioids, stigma and more. Each month, The Evidence features guests from CCSA or those working in the community. We combine the Canadian Centre on Substance Use and Addiction (CCSA)’s knowledge and evidence with people who face substance use disorders every day in their personal and professional lives. We converse with people in health care about the medical challenges of substance use and addiction. We learn from people with lived or living experience. Their knowledge inspires our conversation.

Alright, Now What?
Welcome to Alright, Now What?, a podcast from the Canadian Women’s Foundation. On this show we’re asking, how does a pandemic affect the most marginalized people among us? And how do we get from there, to where we want to be?
We’ll be talking to our resident experts about the pandemic’s impact on women and girls, and which structures are failing women during this emergency.
Then we’ll be looking forward, to uncover how we can use this challenging time not to go “back to normal,” but instead to invest in a new normal where gender equality is our reality

PsychEd
PsychEd is a psychiatry podcast created by medical learners, for medical learners. We’re a team of psychiatry residents that have come together to create a mental health educational podcast because we saw a need for something catered to our specialty at our training level. In each episode, we pick a common psychiatric condition and talk about its diagnosis or management with a staff member from the Department of Psychiatry. Our idea originated at the University of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and we hope to make this a widespread initiative. Whether you’re sitting on a subway or jogging on a treadmill, you can learn about various psychiatric conditions on the go, brought to you by PsychEd.
