In an era where online education is becoming increasingly prevalent, understanding how we teach and learn about social justice in virtual environments is crucial. That’s why I am excited to share an opportunity to contribute to important research in this field.
About the Study
Rose C. B. Singh, a PhD candidate in the School of Social Work at Memorial University, is conducting a study titled “Learning and teaching social (in)justice in online social work education.” This research, supervised by Dr. Sulaimon Giwa and partially funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, aims to:
Contribute to the knowledge base on social justice in online social work education
Highlight effective pedagogical practices
Identify ways to improve learning and teaching social justice in online asynchronous social work courses in Canada
Who Can Participate?
You’re eligible if you meet the following criteria:
You have taught or taken a fully online asynchronous social work course in Canada
The course had social justice in its title and/or course description
Your involvement was within the last two years (winter 2022 to present)
What’s Involved?
Participation involves two main components:
An online questionnaire about the study, social work education, your sociodemographic information, and positionality
Sharing your digital story on learning and/or teaching social justice in asynchronous online social work courses
The total time commitment is approximately 45-60 minutes. As a token of appreciation, participants will receive an e-gift card.
