Thompson Rivers University have a dedicated fund to support students who stand with Ukraine.

The Stand With Ukraine Scholarship aims to support and encourage students to pursue their academic goals at Thompson Rivers University. This scholarship provides financial support to students who demonstrate academic excellence and a commitment to contributing to the human rights and social justice, arts, social and economic development of Ukraine, Ukrainian heritage, culture, and Ukrainian Global Diaspora. The Stand With Ukraine scholarship has a long-term goal of investing in the future of Ukraine’s rebuilding. To contribute to the fund please visit www.tru.ca/ukraine

Here is the proposed criteria for committee to adjudicate the fund that is drafted by members of Ukrainian Diaspora Studies group who meets on Zoom since 2021

Criteria for the Scholarship

1. Must be a citizen of the world who stand with Ukraine and is part of TRU student body.
2. Must have a strong community involvement and commitment to contributing to the human rights and social justice, arts, social and/or economic development of Ukraine, Ukrainian heritage, culture, and Ukrainian Global Diaspora.
3. Must have a clear purpose and plan for how the education received through the scholarship will benefit their stance with Ukraine.
4. Must be able to provide a recent CV,  two letters of recommendation, one from an academic reference and one from a professional or community leader outlining how they stand with Ukraine.
5. Essay: Candidates must submit an essay (500 words) outlining their academic and career goals, and how they plan to contribute to the human rights and social justice, arts, social and/or economic development of Ukraine, Ukrainian heritage, culture, and Ukrainian Global Diaspora.
6. Application Deadline: The deadline for submitting the application for the scholarship is ongoing and results will be announced annually.
