Tonight at TRU: The Care You Don’t See

Somewhere in Kamloops right now, a student is finishing an assignment between hospital visits. A neighbour is cooking a second dinner to drop off down the street. A son is helping his mother with her medications before heading to his evening shift. A parent is studying for an exam with a toddler asleep on their shoulder.

This is the care you don’t see. It is skilled, demanding, and essential. It holds our families, our campus, and our community together. And too often, it remains invisible.

Tonight, we change that. Together.

You are warmly invited to the fourth Invisible No More forum, an advocacy evening to honour caregivers in our community, bringing together those who give care and those who care to give.

📅 Tonight, Thursday, June 11, 2026 🕕 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm 📍 Thompson Rivers University, House of Learning, Room 190 💙 Free, no registration required, everyone is welcome!

A conversation one year in the making

In June 2025, students in SOCW 4520 (Educating for Social Change) hosted the very first Invisible No More forum, making visible the hidden network of care that quietly sustains our communities. One year later, the conversation continues, and it has only grown. Tonight’s forum is the fourth in the series, and the second created entirely by a SOCW 4520 class: planned, organized, and hosted by students who believe that care deserves to be celebrated rather than hidden.

What to expect tonight

Come as you are, and stay for as much of the evening as you can. You will:

  • Hear guest speakers share their authentic caregiving experiences, in their own words and their own voices
  • Join a community conversation about how we can better support caregivers in Kamloops and beyond, with space for your questions and your ideas
  • Learn about the Love Care Share Fund, which provides recognition and financial support for student caregivers
  • Connect with others who give care and those who care to give
  • Enjoy snacks and good company, prepared with love by our class

Why your presence matters

Maybe you are a caregiver yourself. Maybe you love someone who is. Maybe you have never thought of yourself as part of this story, but you believe in building a community where no one carries care alone. Whoever you are, there is a seat for you tonight.

Caregivers rarely ask for recognition. That is exactly why the rest of us need to show up and offer it. Come to listen. Come to witness. Come to help us imagine a future where care is visible, valued, and shared.

Accessibility and a special invitation

The House of Learning is an accessible venue, and we welcome everyone. If you have accessibility needs we can help with, please reach out in advance.

And if you balance caregiving with education, work, or community life, we are still welcoming guests who would like to share their story. If you or someone you know would like to speak, we would love to hear from you.

Contact: Dr. Oleksandr (Sasha) Kondrashov, okondrashov@tru.ca

See you tonight. Bring a friend, bring your questions, and bring your care.

Hosted by the SOCW 4520 class, Thompson Rivers University
