Thinking of Manitoba

As wildfires rage near Carrot Valley and across northern Manitoba, my thoughts are with everyone impacted — from families forced to evacuate, to the incredible first responders risking everything to keep communities safe.

Last year, on my drive from Desert Hills Ranch near Ashcroft, BC, I again witnessed firsthand the destructive force of fire. That moment stays with me—the smoke, the fear, and the quiet heroism all around. Today, I see that same courage as dozens of BC firefighters head east to stand with Manitoba. This is the true spirit of Canada: interprovincial care in action.

Canadians support one another not only with resources but with heart.

To the crews from BC, Ontario, and every corner of this country stepping up — thank you. To the communities affected — you are not alone. We stand with you from coast to coast, in smoke and in solidarity.

Please stay safe. Please avoid any burning. And let’s continue to be there for one another — across every province, every fire line, and every uncertain day ahead.
