🌍📚 This is more than a pilot project — it’s a promise to the future.
Starting in 2025, students in four academic regions of France — Paris, Nice (Alpes-Maritimes), Versailles, and Créteil — will have the opportunity to learn Ukrainian as a second foreign language in collèges and lycées. This historic step, confirmed by France’s Minister of National and Higher Education Élisabeth Borne, is the result of years of thoughtful partnership between France and Ukraine.
It is a powerful recognition that language is not only a means of communication, but a vessel of memory, resilience, and belonging.
For Ukrainian children and families who have found refuge in France, this initiative affirms that their language, identity, and stories matter. And for the broader world, it offers a model of how education can become a bridge between cultures, a form of solidarity, and a path toward healing.
This is how inclusion grows — not through assimilation, but through mutual respect.
Let this be the beginning of something much bigger — where Ukrainian, like every language of a displaced or diasporic people, is welcomed and celebrated, not as an exception, but as part of the rich fabric of global learning.
🌱 May this pilot blossom across France and far beyond.
📚 May Ukrainian language programs flourish wherever Ukrainians live.
💛💙 May our classrooms reflect the dignity of every culture, every child.
