This special online gathering will honour Katie’s MSW practicum project through Dalhousie University and introduce a practical, compassionate guide designed for social workers, parents, and caregivers of children experiencing hospitalization.
Inspired by her own lived experience as a mother and social worker, Katie has transformed her journey into a meaningful and empowering resource. Her course book, structured as a 9-week support guide, walks alongside families from the moment of hospitalization through discharge and post-care adjustment — addressing emotional regulation, advocacy, and the importance of community support.
During the celebration, Katie will share insights into the creation of her resource, and we’ll reflect together on how social work education and fieldwork can become deeply human, healing spaces.
