The second day of the conference, Saturday, February 8th, started early for Kamloops at 6:00 a.m. PT, with a powerful focus on “Future Challenges.” As participants joined from different time zones, the urgency of discussing Ukraine’s educational transformation, cultural preservation, and national unity became even more apparent.
Artificial Intelligence in Education: A Tool for the Future
The day opened with a thought-provoking presentation, “The Role of Artificial Intelligence Technologies in Developing Communication Competencies in the Educational Process” by Professor Ihor Bubnov (Odesa National University).
In a world where digital transformation is inevitable, AI-driven tools are reshaping how students communicate, interact, and learn. The presentation explored AI’s personalized approach in education—adapting content to individual learning needs, offering real-time feedback, and enhancing intercultural communication. While AI fosters efficiency and accessibility, it also raises ethical concerns: the loss of emotional intelligence, digital dependency, and the challenge of balancing human connection with technological advancement.
This session was a powerful reminder that Educating for Tomorrow requires embracing AI while ensuring it amplifies, rather than replaces, human values. Ukrainian educators must navigate this transformation with care, ensuring critical thinking, creativity, and ethical awareness remain at the heart of education.
Reviving Ukrainian Traditions through Inclusion
From technology, we transitioned to culture, identity, and inclusivity with Tatiana Podkupko’s presentation, “Ukrainian Vechornytsi: Reviving Traditions in an Inclusive Format.”
In a time of war and displacement, the importance of preserving cultural identity has never been greater. This presentation showcased an extraordinary initiative—bringing together students, youth with disabilities, and displaced Ukrainians worldwide for a modern-day Vechornytsi. Organized both in-person and online, the event allowed participants across Ukraine, Poland, Germany, Canada, the USA, and beyond to reconnect with their roots.
Through storytelling, traditional games, folk music, and collaborative activities, this initiative demonstrated that Ukrainian traditions are not relics of the past—they are living, evolving expressions of identity that can unite diverse communities. More importantly, by making these traditions inclusive, we ensure that all Ukrainians, regardless of ability or location, remain connected to their heritage.
This session embodied the very spirit of Educating for Tomorrow—showing that true education is not just about knowledge, but about belonging, inclusion, and cultural resilience.
Integrating Global Educational Ecosystems into Ukraine’s Future
The next session took a bold step into the future of education and industry with Professor Natalia Vnukova’s presentation, “The Integration of Global Educational Ecosystems 4.0 into the Economic and Legal Space of Industry 4.0.”
Professor Vnukova emphasized that Ukraine’s future depends on its ability to integrate into the rapidly evolving digital economy. Drawing from global models—particularly Germany’s leadership in Industry 4.0—she discussed how Ukraine must embrace automation, AI, and digital ecosystems to remain competitive.
Her insights highlighted the urgent need for Universities 4.0—modern educational institutions that bridge academia, technology, and industry. The challenge is ensuring that Ukraine’s post-war recovery is not just about rebuilding infrastructure but about creating a knowledge-based, innovation-driven economy.
This session challenged educators, policymakers, and researchers to think beyond traditional academia and prepare students for a future where technology and industry are deeply interconnected.
The Debate on University 5.0 and Ukraine’s National Idea
The day’s final session ignited a passionate and deeply personal discussion about the next stage of Ukraine’s educational evolution and national identity. Following Professor Vnukova’s insights, the conversation turned to University 5.0—a future model that integrates technological advancement with social responsibility and national unity.
At the heart of this discussion was a powerful intervention by Professor Anatoliy Mokiy, who reminded participants of Ukraine’s National Idea and the urgent need to uphold Ukrainian values of national unity.
His words resonated deeply: “We cannot wait for the future to come to us. We must build it with our own hands, guided by our history, our culture, and our identity.” The discussion challenged all participants to reflect on their role in shaping Ukraine’s future, not only through education and technology but through their actions as citizens.
