Stand with Ukraine Kamloops community is coming to the Theatre! Thank you Chelsea and Gwendy for sharing the information.
WCT is proud to be presenting the world premiere of First Métis Man of Odesa March 16–25, 2023 | Pavilion Theatre in Kamloops. Based on actual events, award-winning theatre artists and real-life married couple Matthew MacKenzie, of the Métis Nation of Alberta, and Mariya Khomutova, of Odesa, Ukraine, have created a contemporary love story shaped by unprecedented events. This captivating real-life love story, performed by the creators, is set against the backdrop of the COVID pandemic and the russian invasion of Ukraine, and shares a personal story of love, family, and a intimate perspective on the current war in Ukraine. You can learn more about the show and its creators at wctlive.ca/odesa
We are honoured to be presenting the work of Ukrainian artists and sharing this intimate, honest, and heartbreaking, yet at times humorous, modern love story with Kamloops. We have created a special offer for the local Ukrainian community that wanted to send your way in case anyone you now might be able to use it to come experience this beautiful new show.

April 1st It’s Not a Joke Fundraiser

We invite you to an April Fools’ Day Fundraiser, “Its’ not a joke” for the Stand with Ukraine TRU Scholarship fund.
The Stand With Ukraine Scholarship aims to provide financial support to students who demonstrate academic excellence and a commitment to contributing to arts, social and/or economic development of Ukraine, Ukrainian heritage, culture, and Ukrainian Global Diaspora. In addition, the Stand With Ukraine scholarship has a long-term goal of investing in the future of Ukraine’s rebuilding.
To achieve this goal, we are organizing a fundraiser event, and we would be honoured if you could attend. The event will occur on April 1st from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Hills of Peace Lutheran Church at 695 Robson Drive. We have planned an afternoon of fun and entertainment, including making cranes for Ukraine, a silent auction, bake and craft sale and much more.
The money raised during the event will fund the Stand with Ukraine scholarship program at Thompson Rivers University. Your support can help us significantly impact the lives of TRU students who Stand With Ukraine.
Please let us know if you can attend the event. Your presence would be greatly appreciated, and it would be a pleasure to have you as our guest.
Please share the invitation with your friends, family, colleagues and local businesses.
One of the highlights of our fundraiser event is a silent auction and bake/craft sale, which will feature various items donated by people and businesses in Kamloops and the area. We are seeking donations of items or services that can be auctioned off or sold during the event to support the Stand with Ukraine scholarship fund.
We would be honoured if you or someone you know could donate an item or service for our silent auction or bake/craft sale. Your generosity will benefit the students and provide positive exposure for you and your business/service as we will promote and acknowledge your contribution at the event.
Please let us know if you can contribute an item or service to our silent auction or bake/craft sale. Then, we can arrange for pickup or delivery of the item at your convenience.
If you are unable to attend the fundraiser but want to contribute to the scholarship, please consider donating directly to TRU https://www.tru.ca/ukraine
Thank you for considering our invitation and request, and we look forward to hearing back from you soon.
Please share among your networks, as we need a lot of volunteers at the event. We will need a lot of help. Thank you Michele and Pastor Jane for the posters
